The igottaList concept, oddly enough, started with an episode of “Sex and the City”. In this episode, Carrie was fed up with all the bridal shower, wedding, baby shower and first birthday gifts that she dutifully bought for her married friends. This one-sided gift giving went on for years. Carrie wondered when it would be her turn. This struck a cord with one of the founders, Haley. She wanted to develop a list of gifts that SHE wanted, and didn’t want the fact that she was single to get in the way. As a long time friend, and oft recipient of Haley’s generosity, I agreed but also saw this as an opportunity to simplify my own life. With two kids and a career, what I really need most is more time. So having to wrangle the kids for gift ideas for every holiday and birthdays was a chore that I wanted to get out of. And the kids were tired of getting robes and slippers every year. The group list makes our holiday giving easy. I don’t have to guess what my brother in Orlando wants any more. It’s all there on igottaList. Our 3rd founding member, Chad, agreed with us both but saw igottaList as a way of organizing his own wish list. Like a lot of guys, he’s a little hard to buy for. So when his family asks him what he wants, he needs an organized, easy place to send them. So he uses his list as a place to capture his gift ideas all year around—so when his birthday comes around, it’s no sweat. After looking at other gift list sites, we felt sure we could create something a lot better—easier—more fun. That’s where our fourth and final partner came in. Jade is our design queen. We think she did an amazing job (completely outdoing our competition!) designing our site— hope you love it as much as we do. | ||
